Through My Own Lens Artists Reception Friday, October 5, 2012 5-9 pm
In October we will be part of MMoCA Gallery Night Friday, Oct. 5th from 5p-9p (, PhotoMidwest, put on by Center for Photography, Madison ( and American Craft Week (October 5-14, 2012 )

Throughout the month of October we will be featuring 14 Photographers in a show entitled "Through my own Lens". Each photographer will display a different subject matter as well as the variety of ways photos can be printed. Traditional film, digital, hand colored photography, manipulated images, black & white, and color photography will all be highlighted in this show. This exhibit will emphasize the diversity of photography. The artists include Angela Johnson, Meghan Blake-Horst, Susan Lucas, Rachel Dolnick, Phil Rego, Tami Dettinger, Mallory Shotwell, Jennie Nuese, Ann Marie Waterhouse, Sarah Johnson, Norm Bucholtz, Aileen Musa, Eric Tadsen, and Sally Buffat. The opening reception for this show will be on Friday, October 5 from 5p-9p. The show will run 10/4-10/31/12.

During Gallery Night (10/5 form 5p-9p) and Saturday (10/6 from 10a-5p), we will be hosting a jewelry trunk show for Gretchen Olson Arts. She will be highlighting her latest ceramic Jewelry line. Her earrings and pendants are bright and beautiful!

We are also celebrating American Craft Week (ACW) October 5-14 with a variety of activities, workshops, and demonstrations. Now in its third year, American Craft Week's message is stronger than ever. It's an opportunity to celebrate the wonders of American craft. Every day thousands of American artists share their vision and talent by producing amazing hand-made decorative and functional objects. And every day thousands of craft retailers share their love of these items by displaying, promoting and selling them. As one craft artist put it, "this is the creative economy!" The Madison area has three participants (and growing) Absolutely Art, The Madison Children's Museum and the Overture Center. Each of them will be hosting special events thought the week as well. On Sunday, October 7th Absolutely Art will be featuring a live Blacksmith Demonstration, by Aaron Howard, in our beautiful Backyard.
